Women's Tennis Completes Second Day of Action in Murfreesboro

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – On the second day of play at the 2024 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Ohio Valley Regional Championships and the Blue Raider Showdown in nearby Murfreesboro, Tennessee, the Belmont University women's tennis team faced stiff competition but came away with a singles win. Senior Aly Getty earned a straight-set singles victory in the consolation round of 16 at Middle Tennessee State University's Blue Raider Showdown.
 
After defeating Northern Kentucky's Catharina Sophia Andrade Cardosa 6-4 in the opening set, Getty won a marathon second set 12-10 in a tiebreaker.
 
Junior Libbie Hamilton nearly advanced to the main draw quarterfinals at the Blue Raider Showdown but was edged 10-5 in a third set super tiebreaker by Southeast Missouri State's Mia Mayerová.

On Saturday, senior Anastasiya Zholdakova will take on Tennessee's Conley Raidt in the main draw consolation bracket at the ITA regional championships. Sophomore Hana Sokolovic will also be in action Saturday in singles at the Ohio Valley Regional.
 
In consolation doubles Saturday, Zholdakova and Getty will face Miami University's Emilia Valentinsson and Maria Luisa Oliveira while Hamilton and Sokolovic go up against Ball State's Elena Malykh and Chloe Brown.
 
Getty and Hamilton will both return to singles play at the Blue Raider Showdown Saturday.
