Men's Tennis Completes Fall Tournament Play in Birmingham Sunday

Junior Esunge Ndumbe Picks Up Singles Victory on Final Day of Samford’s CCB Collegiate Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Belmont University men's tennis team closed out its weekend in Birmingham, Alabama, Sunday at Samford University's CCB Collegiate Invitational. Despite falling in both doubles finals, the Bruins got a consolation singles match win from junior Esunge Ndumbe in the top singles draw.

The final day of play at The Country Club of Birmingham concludes Belmont's fall tournament schedule.

"The doubles was tough today as we gave ourselves chances, especially Charlie and Esunge, but we couldn't find a way," said head coach Jeff Cero. "All credit to North Alabama and their guys who played very well, recognized the big points and capitalized with solid play. Overall, it was our best showing in doubles so far and I'm excited to see what we can do in the spring, both with these guys and the new faces coming in."

Ndumbe highlighted the day with a win over third-seeded Lachlan Brain of North Alabama, an All-Atlantic Sun Conference First Team selection last year, in the blue singles draw.
