NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University Volleyball Program (6-9, 1-2 MVC) swept Evansville (2-13, 1-2 MVC) to claim their first conference win of the season.
How it Happened
Freshman duo
Lucy Kay and
Alivia Keegan got the Bruins started in the first. Kay's two quick kills and a kill from Keegan sparked a 4-0 run for Belmont.
Bella Mathis recorded a kill of her own to extend the Bruins' lead at 18-14. Belmont later went on another run and claimed set one 25-18.
The second set was close before the Bruins put together a 6-0 run highlighting back-to-back kills from Mathis and an ace by
Lilly Lutz. The run put Belmont up by seven at 17-10. Evansville brought the set within three at 20-23 before the Bruins finished the set on top 25-21.
Belmont jumped out ahead early in the third.
Emily Warmenhoven got in on the action with a pair of kills to give the Bruins a 10-6 lead. A kill from
Brooke Gilleland down the stretch extended the lead at 22-13. The Bruins went on to claim a dominant third set and match 25-14.

- Lucy Kay recorded 12 kills and a .611 hitting percentage.
- Bella Mathis added seven kills with no errors for a .636 hitting percentage.
- Lilly Lutz tallied 15 digs and three aces.
