Zholdakova and Getty Advance at MVC Individual Championships

CHICAGO – Opening play at the 2024 Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships Friday in Chicago, the Belmont University women's tennis team collected a pair of match wins as seniors Anastasiya Zholdakova and Aly Getty advanced in main draws. The duo won their quarterfinal match in the top doubles flight at the University of Illinois Chicago's XS Tennis Village and Zholdakova advanced to the quarterfinals in the top singles flight with a straight-set triumph in the round of 16.
 
Zholdakova and Getty defeated Illinois State's Lana Caculovic and Emma Lindh 8-5 in the No. 1 doubles quarterfinals Friday and will take on Murray State's Yu Kikawa and Yuna Kadowaki Saturday in the semifinals.
 
Dropping only three games between the two sets, Zholdakova dismissed Bradley's Anna Belogliadova 6-2, 6-1 in her opening round match in the No. 1 singles draw. On Saturday, Zholdakova will face Valparaiso's Moira Silva in the top singles flight quarterfinals.
 
Junior Libbie Hamilton was barely edged in a pair of tiebreakers in the quarterfinals of the No. 4 singles flight.
 
Both Hamilton and Getty will vie for fifth place in their respective draws with Hamilton matching up against the Braves' Ruby Tseng Saturday and Getty seeing Missouri State's Billur Gonlusen.
