MURRAY, Ky. - - Belmont (13-13, 2-2 MVC) traveled to Murray State (18-7, 3-1 MVC) Thursday night. The Bruins kicked in the door on the Racers' turf, as Belmont totaled 21 hits in their 15-4 win.
Bruin Bullets
- Brodey Heaton went 4-for-6 with a career-high three doubles and a season-high four RBI. Heaton's double in his first at-bat brought his career hit total to 226, which moves him to tenth all-time in program history.
- Jack Rando set a new career-high with four hits. He scored three runs and drove in two runs. He also homered in the first inning.
- Sam Slaughter went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI and runs.
- Landon Godsey went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
- Michael Lareau's two-hit performance tied a season-high. He also drove in a run.
- Will Pryor improved to 3-1 on the season. He tossed six innings, allowed four runs, three walks, and five strikeouts.
- Hank Liss tossed two scoreless innings with a strikeout.
- Jordan Zuger allowed one hit in his scoreless ninth inning.
- The Bruins' 21 hits is the first 20+ hit game since March 29, 2018, against SIUE.
- Belmont handed Murray State their first home loss of the season. The Racers were 12-0 entering the game.
Jack Rando kicked off the scoring in the first inning with a solo home run.
Brodey Heaton recorded career hit number 226 two batters later. The hit lifted Heaton to tenth all-time in program history.
Murray State tied the game in the bottom of the first on a pair of errors. They took the lead in the bottom of the third on a RBI single from Carson Garner. The Racers led 2-1 after three innings.
The Bruins tied the game in the top of the fourth.
Blake Barton led off the inning with a single and stole second.
Jeff Clarke brought Barton home on a ground ball to the shortstop.
After Murray State scored in the bottom of the fourth to take a 3-2 lead, the Bruins tacked on three runs in the fifth.
Mason Landers hit a sacrifice fly to left field, which tied the game at 3-3. Heaton drove in two runs the next at-bat, which gave Belmont a 5-3 lead.
Murray State brought the game back within one after a solo shot from Garner.
Belmont hit an RBI single in the sixth inning that brought in Godsey. Belmont led 6-4 after the inning.
The Bruins broke the game open in the eighth inning.
Sam Slaughter drove in Galason on a ground ball to the right side. Two batters later, Rando singled and brought in
Michael Lareau. Rando singled in the next at-bat to extend Belmont's lead, 8-4.
The Bruins scored seven runs on five hits in the ninth inning. Belmont sent 11 batters to the plate and sealed the convincing win, 15-4.
