Women's Tennis Takes on Florida Gulf Coast in the Sunshine State Wednesday Morning

Bruins Look to Get Back to Winning Ways Against Eagles

Belmont (6-5) at Florida Gulf Coast (6-5)
Wednesday, March 6 | 9:00 a.m. CT/10:00 a.m. ET
FGCU Tennis Complex | Fort Myers, Fla.

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Playing just one match during spring break, the Belmont University women's tennis team is in the Sunshine State where the Bruins will take on former Atlantic Sun Conference foe Florida Gulf Coast Wednesday morning. First serve from the FGCU Tennis Complex in Fort Myers, Florida, is scheduled for 9 a.m. CT/10 a.m. ET.

Belmont (6-5) looks to get back to its winning ways after dropping each of its last two matches – at Western Kentucky (4-3) this past Saturday and at home versus nationally-ranked Lipscomb (6-1) on Feb. 25. The Bruins won the doubles point against the Lady Toppers last weekend with wins at the top two spots but couldn't collect a singles victory at the No. 3-6 positions.

Wednesday's match will be the first meeting between the two teams since April 2012 when Belmont was in the ASUN. The Bruins are seeking their first win against the Eagles (6-5) since April of 2008 when Belmont defeated Florida Gulf Coast 4-3 in Nashville.

The Eagles have won five of their last six matches after starting the season 1-4. Florida Gulf Coast is coming off a 6-1 home win over Miami University (Ohio) and is 2-0 in ASUN play with road triumphs at Bellarmine (4-3) and Queens University of Charlotte (6-1).

Up Next
The Bruins will have 10 days off from match action before hosting Alabama A&M on Saturday, March 16 to begin a four-match homestand. Belmont starts its eight-match Missouri Valley Conference slate on Saturday, March 23 when Illinois State visits the Music City.
