SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. – The Belmont men's golf team dropped to fifth place after 36 holes of the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Championship held Monday at The Club at Porta Cima in Sunrise Beach, Missouri.
Belmont shot a team score of 293 on Monday, an improvement by two shots over Sunday's round, but fell a spot and stands in fifth place after two rounds at 588. Southern Illinois continues to lead at 565, with Missouri State in second at 579, Valparaiso in third at 583, and Murray State in fourth at 585.
Three Bruins are among the top-15 after two rounds of play. Sophomore
Jack Schoenberger carded an one-under par 71 to finish the day in a tie for fifth place at 143. The Georgia native is seven back of the individual leader, Edouard Cereto of Southern Illinois (136).
Junior Michael Senn and sophomore
Conner Brown are each tied for 13
th place at 146. Senn shot a one-under par 71, while Brown carded a 75.
Senior
Reeve Felner and freshman
Jack Darke are each tied for 35
th place at 154. Felner shot a 76, while Darke posted a 77 on Tuesday.
The third and final round is set to begin Tuesday morning at 8:00am.
