Bruins Storm Back to Win 8-6 Against Bradley

Four-Run Seventh Inning and Key At-Bats Lift Bruins to Victory

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont (21-21, 8-8 MVC) and Bradley (10-28-1, 4-12) opened their weekend series at E.S. Rose Park on Friday evening. Belmont's last offensive resurgence and strong bullpen performances led to an 8-6 comeback win.

  • Jack Rando went 3-for-5
  • Mason Landers set a new career-high with his 4-for-4 performance at the plate. Landers hit his 15th home run of the season.
  • Landon Godsey went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.
  • Brodey Heaton drove in two runs.
  • Cade Granzow improved to 4-1 behind his four innings out of the bullpen and four strikeouts.
  • Hank Liss picked up his third save. He tossed two scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
Bradley jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first. Ryan Vogel hit a first-pitch solo home run on the game's first pitch.
 
Belmont tied it in the home half with a sacrifice fly from Blake Barton.


 
Belmont took the lead in the second inning. Landon Godsey hit a one-out solo home run to left field. The Bruins led 2-1 after the inning.


 
Brodey Heaton hit a sacrifice fly in the third inning, scoring Sam Slaughter.


 
The Braves capitalized on free passes in the fourth inning. Will Pryor made an early departure from the game. Cade Granzow came in from the bullpen. Bradley scored four runs on two hits and retook the lead, 5-3.
 
Belmont climbed back within one in the fifth inning. Mason Landers hit a solo shot to left field. His 15th home run of the season made it a 5-4 ballgame.


 
Bradley added a run to the scoreboard in the sixth on an RBI single from Beau Durbin. The Braves went back in front by two runs, 6-4.
 
The Bruins' offense exploded in the seventh inning. Barton hit an RBI single to left-center field. Heaton tied the game at 6-6 with his second sacrifice fly. Max Jones and Godsey hit back-to-back RBI doubles. Belmont led 8-6 after the seventh.








 
Hank Liss silenced the Braves with his two innings of work and four strikeouts. He ended the game with a strikeout and stranded two runners. Belmont won 8-6.
