Men's Tennis Heads Down Belmont Boulevard Thursday Afternoon

Bruins Seek Sixth-Straight Win in Non-Conference Rivalry

Belmont (6-7) at Lipscomb (8-10)
Thursday, April 4 | 1:00 p.m.
Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center | Nashville, Tenn.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Winners of three in a row, the Belmont University men's tennis team makes the short trek down Belmont Boulevard Thursday afternoon to face nearby rival Lipscomb University in non-conference action. First serve from the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center in Nashville is slated for 1 p.m.

This past weekend, the Bruins (6-7) picked up a key Horizon League South Division victory with a 5-2 home win over crosstown adversary Tennessee State Saturday. On Easter Sunday, Belmont stepped out of conference play at traveled to the University of Alabama at Birmingham where the Bruins earned a gritty, 4-3 triumph.

During its three-match winning streak, Belmont has claimed the all-important doubles point. The tandem of senior Tomas Luis and redshirt junior Diego Castro, who were named Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week earlier Wednesday, are a perfect 3-0 at No. 2 doubles.

The Bruins have won each of their last five matchups with the Bisons going back to the 2019 season. Late last January, Belmont defeated Lipscomb 6-1 at the Ensworth Tennis Center.

The two teams last battled each other outdoors on March 16, 2021, when the Bruins opened the Beaman Family Tennis Complex with a 4-3 win over the Bisons. Belmont has not taken on Lipscomb at the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center since March of 2018.

The Bisons (8-10) enter Thursday having won consecutive 5-2 home matches against Queens University of Charlotte last Thursday and Eastern Kentucky this past Saturday. Lipscomb is 7-3 at home on the season and 5-2 on campus at the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center.
