TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - - Belmont (22-23, 9-10 MVC) and #24 Indiana State (32-10, 15-4 MVC) began their weekend series on Friday night. The Sycamores' offense was too much for the Bruins as Indiana State won 15-5.
Bruin Bullets
Indiana State jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the first inning. The Sycamores had two home runs and four hits in the inning. They added a pair of runs in the second. Indiana State led 7-0 after two innings.
Belmont hung a three spot on the board in the third. The Bruins capitalized on four walks to start the inning.
Mason Landers hit a sacrifice fly to center field.
Brodey Heaton hit an RBI single to center field. Belmont trailed 7-3.
Indiana State added another run on a solo home run in the home half.
Belmont added another run in the top of the sixth.
Max Jones drove in
Blake Barton on a ground ball up the middle. The Bruins trailed 8-4.
The Sycamores continued to score in the sixth inning. A sacrifice fly and two-run home run made it an 11-4 ballgame.
Max Blessinger hit a solo home run to start the seventh inning. The Sycamores rattled off four runs and five hits in the bottom of the inning to run rule the Bruins, 15-5.
