Men's Tennis Opens Fall Season at Louisville Invitational Friday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Beginning fall tournament play, the Belmont University men's tennis team completed the opening day of the Louisville Invitational Friday with four combined doubles wins and a trio of singles victories. The Bruins went 4-2 in doubles and 3-3 in singles collectively at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
 
Highlighting doubles action, junior Eli Mizerski and freshman Morgan Woodson earned a pair of wins to advance to the Flight C final, which will be played Sunday morning. In doubles Flight B, graduate Niklas von Hellens and freshman Charlie Robin reached the semifinals.
 
The junior duo of Sabi Roi and Esunge Ndumbe also earned a doubles triumph in Flight A.
 
Von Hellens, Mizerski and Robin all won their first-round Flight C singles matches in straight sets.
 
"It was great to finally see our guys take the court today," commented head coach Jeff Cero. "I thought we did a good job competing and using the matches well. This tournament is all about development and growth for the things we've begun to work on this season. We're looking forward to continuing our work together tomorrow as a team."
