Women’s Soccer Hosts Chattanooga on Senior Night

Bruins Look for Third Straight Win on Sunday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University women's soccer (3-5) hosts Chattanooga (1-4-2) to close out non-conference play on Sunday, Sept. 15 at E.S. Rose Park. The Bruins will recognize five seniors before the match: Carly Ross, Leah Firsdon, Allison Brockelman, Abbigail Legg and Summer Curtis.
 
Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. CT from E.S. Rose Park. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
 
What's Bruin
  • Belmont is coming off their second straight win on the road. Belmont scored three goals in eight minutes during the second half of Thursday's match to improve to 3-5 on the season.
  • Freshman Ava Labocki leads the team and is tied for fifth in the MVC with three goals; all scored in the last two matches. Labocki was the first Bruin to score two goals in a match since Leah Firsdon at Evansville on Oct. 16, 2022. The last Bruin to score goals in consecutive matches was Maci Pekmezian ('24) against Illinois State (Sept. 28, 2023) and Evansville (Oct. 1, 2023).
  • Kennedy Bernsen's two assists lead the team and are tied for the third-most in the MVC; she recorded one against North Alabama (Sept. 10) and Tennessee Tech (Sept. 12). The last time a Bruin recorded an assist in successive matches was Summer Curtis against Southeast Missouri State (Sept. 26, 2021) and Austin Peay (Sept. 30, 2021).
  • Sydney Jones ranks fourth in the MVC in save percentage (.750) and fifth in saves (33). She set a new career high against Tennessee Tech with eight saves. Jones has recorded consecutive matches with at least six saves.
  • Six of Belmont's eight goals have been scored by a freshman: Labocki (3), Reagan Ross (2) and Kaitlyn Elliot.
  • With a win over Chattanooga, Belmont will have their first three-match win streak from Sept. 26 to Oct 14, 2021.
  • Belmont's eight shots on goal against Tennessee Tech were a new season high and the most since the Bruins' 18 against Union on Aug. 18, 2022. 
Scouting the Mocs
  • The Mocs have played three teams in the top 50 of the RPI rankings: Alabama (No. 22), #16 Xavier (No. 27) and Tennessee (No. 31).
  • Caroline Richvalsky leads the team with three goals after being tied for the team lead with seven in 2023.
  • Chattanooga last played on Sept. 5 against Tennessee Tech. The match finished in a 1-1 draw.
  • Goalkeeper Caroline Ekern is tied for fifth in the SoCon with 27 saves. 
Series History
  • Belmont is 6-1 all-time against Chattanooga.
  • The Mocs won their first match in the all-time series last season at home, 3-1.
  • Belmont's last win over Chattanooga was on Aug. 8, 2021. The Bruins won 2-1 in double overtime.
