SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Belmont University Volleyball Program (5-6, 0-0 MVC) was swept by Idaho State (8-3, 0-0 Big Sky) on Friday night.
How it Happened
Brenna Kauffeld got the Bruins going with back-to-back kills early in the first set. Idaho State started to pull away after a 3-0 run to extend their lead at 7-15. A block from
Bella Mathis and
Emily Warmenhoven brought Belmont within five at 15-20. The Bengals went on to take the first 17-25.
Idaho State took control early with a 3-12 lead. Two-straight kills from
Brooke Gilleland brought the Bruins within eight at 7-15. The Bengals continued to stay ahead, and claim set two 10-25.
The Bengals built off their momentum to take the lead in the third set. Two more kills from Gilleland provided a late spark for the Bruins to close the gap at 17-22. Idaho State went on to win the set and match 18-25.
