Evansville, Ind. – The Belmont University volleyball team (11-3, 2-1) earned a road conference victory Friday night, sweeping Evansville 3–0 inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse. Behind steady play at the net, aggressive serving, and timely contributions off the bench, the Bruins secured the sweep to improve their Missouri Valley Conference record.
Belmont set the tone in the opening frame, holding a steady lead before a key 11–9 rally shifted the momentum. With Connie Kofoed providing a spark off the bench and the Bruins attacking efficiently, Belmont stretched the lead to seven and closed the set 25–18.
The second frame saw a back-and-forth battle with the Aces answering to keep the score tight. Belmont regained its energy late behind net play from Lucy Kay, kills from Brooke Gilleland, and back-to-back swings from Emily Warmenhoven to claim the set 25–23.
In the third, the Bruins pulled away with big swings from Gilleland and steady defensive work by libero Lilly Lutz. Service pressure from Gilleland and timely blocks from Erin McMullen kept Evansville off balance. Gilleland sealed the match with a kill as Belmont secured the frame 25–19 and the sweep.
