Men's Cross Country Announces Two New Signings

Two Distance Runners Will Make Their Debut Next Fall

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Belmont University Men's cross country program has announced the signing of two runners who will join the team for the 2026 cross country season.

Carson Smith joins the Bruins from Colorado Springs, Colo. While attending Air Academy High School, Smith earned an 11th place finish at the Colorado State Cross Country Championships, and placed 14th at the prestigious Woodbridge Cross Country Meet held at The Great Park in Irvine, California.

Smith holds a personal best of 4:11 in the 1600m and 9:01 in the 3200m.

Liam Powers comes to Belmont from Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers, Ind. He placed fourth at the Indiana State Cross Country Championships with a time of 15:12 in the 5K race.

At the Indiana State Track Championships, Powers earned a 9th place finish in the 3200m with a time of 9:06.

"Carson and Liam are two high quality commitments. While their running resumes speak for themselves, they also fit in so well to the Belmont culture. They will make our program better right away," commented Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jeff Langdon.
