NASHVILLE, Tenn. â Two Belmont University volleyball standouts earned Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) weekly honors, as announced by the league office Monday morning. Junior right side Brenna Kauffeld has been named MVC Player of the Week, while freshman middle blocker Erin McMullen has been selected as MVC Freshman of the Week following Belmont's 3â1 road win over Murray State and a competitive four-set challenge against undefeated Northern Iowa. The Bruins enter postseason play at 17â10 overall and 8â8 in MVC play.Â
Kauffeld earns Player of the Week recognition after delivering one of her strongest weekends of the season. The Ashville, Ohio, native posted 16 kills and four blocks in the victory at Murray State before leading all players with 15 kills and eight blocks against UNI. Her performance against the Panthers marked a new season high in blocks and total points, and she continues to pace Belmont's offense with 232 kills on the year while anchoring the defense with 114 total blocks. Earlier this season, she was named MVP of the Clocktower Tournament, guiding the Bruins to a 3â0 weekend that included two five-set victories.Â
McMullen, the Miami, Florida native, continued her breakout freshman campaign with another impactful week at the net. She recorded five blocks and two aces against Murray State and added four blocks in the matchup with Northern Iowa. Her season also includes a career-high 14 points at Southern Illinoisâfeaturing 10 total blocks, three digs, and two acesâas well as a career-best 10 kills in Belmont's five-set battle with Bradley. Through her first collegiate season, she has totaled 112 kills while averaging 1.04 blocks per set, emerging as one of the MVC's most productive freshmen.Â
The honors mark Belmont's second and third MVC weekly recognitions this season, joining setter Jordan Czajkowski, who earned MVC Freshman of the Week on November 10.Â
The Bruins return to action on Wednesday, November 19, traveling to Des Moines, Iowa, to face Drake at 6 p.m. CT inside the Knapp Center in the opening round of the MVC Tournament. The match will air live on ESPN+, with live stats available at BelmontBruins.com.Â
