OLDSMAR, Fla. – The Belmont women's golf team finished in eighth place at the Don Benbow Invitational held this week at Ardea Country Club in Oldsmar, Florida.
Belmont carded a final round 319 to finish in eighth place at 643. Western Michigan won the team title with a mark of 626, while host Butler was second at 630.
The Bruins had two golfers finish among the top-20. Junior
Chloe Tarkany tied for fifth place with a 36-hole score of 158. She carded a final round 82 on Tuesday. It was her third top-five finish of the season and fourth top-10. She finished six shots back of the medalist, Sophie McGinnis of Butler (149).
Senior
Eva Graham posted a 78 in the final round to finish in a tie for 16
th place at 158, three strokes back of Tarkany. It was her first top-20 finish of the season.
Freshman
Sloane Biddle bounced back from a tough first round and carded a final round 74 to move up 42 spots and finish in a tie for 25
th place at 160. It was her sixth top-25 finish of her short Belmont career.
Fellow freshman
Emilee Swagger tied for 6
6th place at 170, while sophomore
Paige Hammarstrom tied for 77
thplace at 172.
Freshman
Sophie Skoog, competing as an individual, tied for 66
th place at 170.
The women's golf team has a couple of weeks off before returning to action on March 24-25 close to home at the Nashville Invitational at Hermitage Golf Course.
