Baseball Come Up Short Against Lipscomb

Sixth Inning Burst Not Enough for Bruins

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The second Battle of the Boulevard game of the season took place at E.S. Rose Park Tuesday evening. Belmont (9-17) struggled early against Lipscomb (9-14) but found life in the sixth inning. The Bisons scored in only two innings yet had enough bullpen help to fend off the Bruins. Belmont fell 5-4 to their rival Lipscomb.

Scoring Action
  • The Bisons scored a pair of runs in the third inning. Parks Bouck hit a two-out RBI double down the left-field line. David Coppedge followed with an RBI double to right-center field. Lipscomb stranded two runners on base but took a 2-0 lead.
  • Lipscomb's Brady Miller hit a leadoff solo home run in the sixth inning. The Bisons added two more on a pair of errors. Lipscomb extended their lead, 5-0.
  • Belmont's offense came alive in the sixth inning. Charlie Davis hit a base knock – his second of the game – to right field. Ty Allen hit a two-out double off the wall in left-center field that scored Davis. After a walk to Landon Godsey, Mike Sprockett hit a three-run home run to right field. Sprockett's seventh home run of the season brought Belmont within one, trailing 5-4.
  • The Bruins had an opportunity to win the game in the ninth inning. With the bases loaded and one out, Blake Barton unfortunately grounded into a game-ending double play.
