Baseball Walks Off North Alabama

Blake Barton Delivers, Bruins Win 5-4 in 10-Inning Thriller

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont (2-10) continued their five-game homestand Tuesday night with non-conference action against North Alabama (3-8) at E.S. Rose Park. On a windy night with gusts up to 38 mph, both teams had opportunities to run away with the game. Belmont's bullpen came up clutch and set the table for Blake Barton's walk-off single in the 10th inning. The Bruins won 5-4 and picked up their first win at home this season.
 
Scoring Action
  • ­­North Alabama's Bryant Loving hit a solo home run in the second inning.
  • Kaden Galason gave Belmont a 3-1 lead on a bases-clearing double in the second inning.
  • The Lions added a pair of runs in the third inning after Alex Wade and RJ Sherwood drew bases-loaded walks. North Alabama left the bases loaded but tied the game at 3-3.
  • North Alabama took a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning on Sherwood's RBI single to center field.
  • Belmont forced the game into extra innings in the ninth inning. Pete Daniel was hit by the first pitch of his at-bat with the bases loaded and two outs.
  • Blake Barton won the game with a walk-off single in the 10th inning that scored Ty Allen from second.

  • Pete Daniel went 1-for-2 and extended his on-base streak to 12 games with a pair of walks.
  • Kaden Galson finished the night with a career-high three RBIs and a double.
  • Trey Maeker picked up his first win at Belmont. The graduate student pitched a scoreless 10th inning and struck out two batters.
  • Logan Brock allowed one unearned run in two innings of work in his collegiate debut. Brock struck out two batters.
  • Zach Hernandez allowed one hit with two strikeouts in two scoreless innings of relief work.
  • Jonathon Van Ness pitched two scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
  • Belmont's bullpen combined for nine strikeouts in seven innings.
