NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont (16-23) returned to E.S. Rose Park and faced Middle Tennessee (17-20) Tuesday afternoon. Both teams had opportunities to capitalize with runners on base, both teams left a combined 29 runners stranded. The Blue Raiders chipped away at Belmont's bullpen and won the game, 11-2. Â
Scoring Action
- Middle Tennessee jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the fifth inning. Keaton Ray hit an RBI single. Matt Wolfe laid down a sacrifice bunt. Brett Rogers capped off the scoring with an RBI single to left field.
- Ty Allen put Belmont on the board with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Bruins trailed 3-1 moving into the sixth inning.
- MTSU's Wolfe drew a bases-loaded walk in the sixth inning.
- The Blue Raiders scored five runs in the fifth inning. Belmont's pitching staff issued four walks and a hit by pitch. The Blue Raiders led 9-1 moving a the seventh-inning stretch.
- Â Belmont scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Charlie Davis led off the inning with a single up the middle. Following a two-out Mike Sprockett single, Blake Barton hit an RBI single through the left side. Belmont trailed 9-2.
- MTSU scored two runs in the top of the ninth on an RBI double from Ray and an RBI base knock from Rogers.
