INDIANAPOLIS – For the third consecutive year, at least four Belmont University women's track and field athletes are headed to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Senior thrower
Logan Gray, graduate thrower
Rebekah Stucker, and graduate distance runners
Grace Litzinger and
Brooke Garter have been selected to participate in next week's 2025 NCAA East First Round meet in Jacksonville, Florida.
Gray will make her third-straight appearance in the NCAA East First Round in the shot put, while Stucker will compete in her second consecutive NCAA East First Round in the hammer throw. Litzinger will race in her second 3000m steeplechase at the NCAA East First Round and Garter will make her NCAA Outdoor Championships debut in the 5000m.
The four-day NCAA meet will take place next Wednesday-Saturday, May 28-31 on the campus of the University of North Florida at Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium. Women's competition will be held next Thursday, May 29 and next Saturday, May 31.
The women's hammer throw will take place at 9 a.m. CT/10 a.m. ET next Thursday, May 29 followed by the shot put at 5 p.m. CT/6 p.m. ET. Both Litzinger and Garter's races will be held next Saturday, May 31 with the 3000m steeplechase starting at 4:40 p.m. CT/5:40 p.m. ET and the 5000m beginning at 7:10 p.m. CT/8:10 p.m. ET.
The top 12 finishers in each event at next week's NCAA East First Round will advance to the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships semifinals and finals, held Wednesday-Saturday, June 11-14 at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
A native of Spartanburg, South Carolina (Spartanburg HS), Gray recently broke her own school shot put record with a throw of 54 feet, 3.75 inches (16.55m) on her fifth attempt at this past weekend's Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships. She earned silver and ranks 41st in the nation. Gray will enter the NCAA East First Round as the No. 19 seed in the shot put.
Hailing from Odessa, Missouri (Odessa HS), Stucker is coming off a career-best hammer throw performance at last weekend's MVC Outdoor Championships where she captured gold. On her second throw, Stucker went for 203 feet, 8 inches (62.09m). She ranks 43rd nationally in the hammer throw and is the No. 20 seed for next week's NCAA East First Round.
Fayetteville, Arkansas (Fayetteville HS), native Litzinger has set the Bruins' steeplechase record in all three races she has ran this season. At the MVC Outdoor Championships in Carbondale, Illinois, she won gold with a program-best time of 10:15.45. Ranked 67th in the country in the 3000m steeplechase, Litzinger will head into the NCAA East First Round seeded 30th.
Garter, a native of Kings Mills, Ohio (Kings HS), also won gold last weekend at the MVC Outdoor Championships in the 5000m. She came nearly within a second of the school record in April at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California, with a blistering personal-best time of 16:03.55. Seeded 45th for the NCAA East First Round, Garter has raced in the last four NCAA South Regional Cross Country Championships. This past fall, she paced Belmont with a 28th-place showing.
