JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Putting a bow on their collegiate careers, graduate distance runners
Grace Litzinger and
Brooke Garter wrapped up Belmont University track and field's week of competition at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships East First Round Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida. Litzinger turned in her fourth sub-10:30 time of the season in the 3000m steeplechase, while Garter set the school record in the 5000m.
Â
Racing in her second NCAA East First Round 3000m steeplechase at the University of North Florida's Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium, Litzinger placed ninth in the first of three heats with a time of 10:24.39. The Fayetteville, Arkansas (Fayetteville HS), native finished 29th overall in a loaded field of 48 as she was within 10 seconds of her program record.
Â
Under the lights, Garter completed her Bruin career on a high note. Breaking the school record by nearly two seconds, Garter ran a blistering 16:00.76. In her first-ever NCAA East First Round race, the Kings Mills, Ohio (Kings HS), native finished 14th in the second 5000m semifinal. Garter placed 26th overall among an extremely fast field of 48.
Both Litzinger and Garter were key in bringing Belmont two cross country championships across two different conferences in 2021 and 2023. The pair's races Saturday bring an end to the Bruins' 2025 track and field season.
Â
Belmont will now turn its attention to the 2025 cross country season and the 2026 indoor track and field season.
