NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont Softball standout
Maya Johnson was named Second Team All-American by D1Softball, the organization announced Tuesday.

Johnson, who was named Second Team All-American by Softball America May 20, compiled one of the greatest single-seasons in the history of Belmont Athletics, irrespective of sport.

The Columbia Station, Ohio native ranks Top 10 nationally in ten statistical categories, including first nationally in strikeouts (366), strikeout-to-walk ratio (16.64), strikeouts per seven innings (12.4), WHIP (0.65), walks allowed per seven innings (0.74), and shutouts (11).

Over the Memorial Day weekend, 643Softball ranked Johnson as the top pitcher in the nation by wins above replacement (WAR) at 7.4; second among all position players to Jordy Bahl of Nebraska.
This is the latest accolade for Johnson, who was tabbed Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year, MVC Tournament Most Valuable Player, First Team All-MVC, MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) First Team All-Region.
