EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Remaining unbeaten seven matches into the 2025 season, the Belmont University men's soccer team picked up its third road shutout of the year with a dominant 3-0 win at Southern Indiana University Wednesday evening. The Bruins (4-0-3) recorded a season-high 18 shots, including placing eight on target, while limiting the host Screaming Eagles (1-5-0) to only one shot on goal.
Â
Both freshman midfielder
Paul Claes Nielsen and sophomore midfielder
Emmanuel Aranda scored their first career goals and freshman forward
Jaxon Stokes knocked in his second tally of the season.
Â
Snapping a three-match streak of 1-1 draws, Belmont was intentional in its attack early and found the back of the net in the 30th minute on an excellent feed into the box by graduate defender
Parker Forbes. Senior defender
Riley Clothier headed the ball down to Claes Nielsen in front of the six-yard box for a right-footed tap-in and a 1-0 halftime lead.
Just under 15 minutes into the second half, freshman midfielder
Nzuhri Biggar drew a foul right before the 18-yard line to set up a short free kick. Aranda took the kick and launched an absolute rocket into the left-side upper 90.
A little over four minutes later, redshirt junior forward
Brock Kiper made a great play to come up with a steal in the final third. Tracking down the ball and beating his man, Kiper fed the ball over to an open Biggar and Stokes. After a deflection by Southern Indiana goalkeeper Kael McGowan, Stokes rocked in the Bruins' final goal.
Redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Miles Kipley and redshirt freshman defender
Zach Stanton both made their collegiate debuts, while redshirt sophomore defender
Dru Stanton made his season debut.
Â
Graduate goalkeeper
Grant Calvert and Kipley combined for Belmont's third shutout of the season.
Â
The victory extends the Bruins' program-best unbeaten streak, which dates back to Oct. 25 of last year, to nine.
