Bruins Host Northern Iowa in Valley Matchup

Team Chemistry and Resilience Power Belmont’s Push

Belmont (2-3-5) (0-1-1, MVC) vs Northern Iowa (3-3-3) (0-0-2, MVC)
Sunday, Sept. 28 | 1:00 p.m.
E.S. Rose Park | Nashville, TN

NASHVILLE, Tenn.– Belmont women's soccer returns to E.S. Rose Park this weekend to face the University of Northern Iowa in a Missouri Valley Conference match up. The Bruins enter the contest with a 2-3-5 overall record and an 0-1-1 mark in MVC play, looking to convert recent ties into three-point results on home turf.

The Bruins are coming off a 2–2 draw against Drake, a match where Belmont showed resilience by erasing deficits twice, capped off by Kate Virtel 89th-minute equalizer. The result continued a theme of competitive contests for Belmont, who has already recorded five draws through ten matches, including four shutouts on the season.
Offensively, the Bruins have scored nine goals in ten matches, led by junior forward Kaitlyn Elliott with two goals and four points. A balanced supporting cast has contributed as well, with seven different goal scorers this year. Olivia Walker (1 goal, 1 assist), Ava Labocki (1 goal, 1 assist), and Reagan Ross (team-high 15 shots, 1 goal) highlight a diverse attacking group.

Anchoring the back line is graduate goalkeeper Sydney Jones, who has played every minute in her eight starts. Jones has tallied 43 saves with an .827 save percentage, posting four shutouts and keeping Belmont in matches against high-volume shooting opponents.

With 1,890 consecutive minutes played dating back to last season, junior defender Lillie Tabor ironwoman streak remains a cornerstone of Belmont's back line.
