Eoin Dillon was named Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Dillon continued his fine play in leading Belmont to victories vs. Valparaiso and at Southern Illinois this past week, as the Bruins have won an NCAA-best 10 games away from home this season.

Dillon averaged 15.0 points and 3.5 rebounds this past week on 73 percent shooting. He scored 13 of his career-high 18 points in the second half at Southern Illinois. His five straight points tied the game at 62 with 2:42 left and sparked a 12-0 Belmont run down the stretch.

The 6-9 forward had 12 points vs. Valparaiso Jan. 13, including the go-ahead basket with 1:07 left and the eventual game-winning assist with 11 seconds left.

Dillon has scored in double figures in five MVC games this season and has delivered a game-tying or go-ahead basket in five of his last seven games.

The Peoria, Illinois native is averaging 5.7 points and 2.5 rebounds per game this season.

Belmont University men's basketball has been a postseason fixture for the last two decades, including nine berths to the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins have won 20 conference championships since 2006 - third-most nationally over that span (behind Gonzaga and Kansas).
