LOUISVILLE, Ky. – With four players in action in Louisville, Kentucky, at the University of Louisville's Louisville Invitational, the Belmont University men's tennis team collected a trio of match wins Friday. Behind the play of junior
Kostiantyn Mantach and freshman
Judah McEachern-Brown, the Bruins went undefeated in Flight B.
Â
Mantach and McEachern-Brown took down DePaul's Andy Hadziabdic and Bernardo Vialle 6-4 before both won their singles matches.
Â
McEachern-Brown defeated Vialle in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, while Mantach handled the 2025 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year, Hadziabdic. Despite stumbling in the second set, Mantach topped Hadziabdic 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.
"The doubles effort was much stronger today than just a week ago," commented head coach
Jeff Cero. "Kostya (
Kostiantyn Mantach) and Judah (McEachern-Brown) played well and started the tournament on the right foot. They continued on with Kostya defeating a quality opponent in three sets and Judah winning his first singles match as a Bruin. Charlie (Robin) and Jesús (Garcia Salgado) almost pulled off a quality win, and I thought Charlie showed great effort in his singles match."
Â
Junior
Charlie Robin and freshman Jesús Garcia Salgado were narrowly edged 8-6 in a tiebreaker in their Flight A doubles match against Ariel Zauber and Aryan Badlani of Indiana.
Â
Robin also came up just short in singles, going to three sets with Indiana's Zauber after winning a 7-3 opening set tiebreaker.
"Overall, it's a good start and tomorrow will really show our level in how we respond after a physical first day," concluded coach Cero.
Â
Juniors
Morgan Woodson and
Esteban Ortiz were also in action Friday, staying local and playing in Vanderbilt's Black and Gold Invitational. Teaming up with the Commodores' Roshan Santhosh, Woodson earned a doubles win. The pair defeated North Alabama's Adrian Climent Cardona and Rytis Razminas 7-3 in a tiebreaker indoors.
Â
Mantach and McEachern-Brown will continue play at the Louisville Invitational Saturday morning against Indiana beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT/9:30 a.m. ET. Robinson and Salgado will get underway at 11:30 a.m. CT/12:30 p.m. ET as they face players from Bellarmine.
Â
Play at the Black and Gold Invitational for Woodson and Ortiz will continue at 9 a.m. Saturday.
