Webb's Three-Run Homer Lifts Belmont Past UAB

Charlie Davis One Double Shy of the Cycle

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-- Belmont baseball used a powerful offensive performance and timely pitching to secure a road victory over the UAB Blazers baseball Saturday afternoon at Young Memorial Field in Birmingham, Alabama.

Belmont's lineup delivered multiple extra-base hits throughout the contest, highlighted by four home runs that helped the Bruins take control in the middle innings and hold off the Blazers down the stretch.

The turning point of the game came when Nate Webb stepped to the plate with runners on base. Webb connected on a towering three-run home run that ignited the Belmont dugout and swung the momentum firmly in the Bruins' favor. The blast gave Belmont a crucial lead and energized the offense as the Bruins continued to apply pressure on UAB.

Belmont's power surge began earlier in the game when Michael Lareau launched a solo home run to put the Bruins on the board. Later in the game, Cavan McMeans added another long ball for Belmont, continuing his strong stretch at the plate and helping extend the Bruins' advantage.

The Bruins' offensive display continued when Charlie Davis joined the home run parade with a deep shot of his own, giving Belmont additional breathing room and further shifting the momentum toward the visiting side.

Additionally to the numerous home runs by the team, Davis also had one stolen base and a an early triple to start things off for Belmont. Davis was only one double shy of completing Belmont's first ever hitting cycle.

In total, Belmont's offense combined for several key hits and consistent pressure throughout the lineup, generating scoring opportunities across multiple innings. The Bruins' balanced attack kept UAB's pitching staff on its heels for much of the afternoon.

On the mound, Belmont's pitching staff settled in following the early innings and delivered crucial outs late in the game to prevent a Blazers rally. The bullpen held firm down the stretch, shutting down UAB's attempts to climb back into the contest.

Owen Cavey from the first pitch of the game was fearless on the mound only allowing 3 hits through 3 innings of work before leaving with injury. McKale Stevenson and Brooks McDonnough did a tremendous job in relief pitch for the bruins keeping UAB's scoring to a low.

Belmont is back in action tomorrow for the final game of the series in Birmingham with the first pitch at 1:00 PM from Young Memorial Field.  The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and will have a live radio broadcast.
