PERRY, Ga. -- Belmont women's golfer
Chloe Tarkany claimed medalist honors at the Houston Lake Invitational held this week at the Houston Lake Country Club in Perry, Georgia. The Bruins finished runner-up in the team standings.
Tarkany captured her fourth career individual title and her second this season by carding a six-under par 66 in Monday's final round to finish the event with a 54-hole score of 214 (-2), one stroke ahead of runner-up, Sophia Gambini of ETSU (215).
The Scottsdale, Arizona native posted one eagle, six birdies, and just one bogey in Tuesday's round.
With her victory and final score, Chloe tied several program records:
- Her fourth individual title – second most by any Belmont women's golfer
- Her final round 66 is tied for the second lowest 18-hole score in program history
- Her -6 score on Monday tied for the lowest 18-hole score in relation to par
- Her 54-hole mark of 214 is tied for the second lowest 54-hole score in program history
- Her -2 score is tied for the second lowest 54-hole score in relation to par
As the team, the Bruins finished runner-up in the event. They shot a final round 295 to finish with a score of 896, 11 strokes back of the team champion, ETSU (885).
Besides Tarkany, two other Belmont golfers finished among the top-11. Sophomore
Sloane Biddle shot a final round 71 to move up to fifth place with a score of 224. It was her fifth top-10 finish of the season.
Junior
Paige Hammarstrom posted a 78 on Monday to finish in a tie for 11
th place at 230.
Sophomore
Harper Edwards finished 17
th with a mark of 236, while freshman
Lauren Davis placed 21st at 241.
Sophomore
Sophie Skoog, competing as an individual, tied for 19
th place at 240.
The women's golf team is back in action April 11-12 at the Jan Weaver Invitational in Murray, Kentucky.
