INDIANAPOLIS – Going 2-0 at No. 1 doubles over the past week, Belmont University men's tennis'
Sabi Roi and
Stefan Vedovelli have been named Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week. The Bruins' top tandem clinched the doubles point in both of Belmont's road matches, including a bout at nationally-ranked Tennessee.
Â
Announced by the league office midday Wednesday, Roi (Lyon, France) and Vedovelli (Mezzolombardo, Italy) collect their second Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week award. The duo was also tabbed Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week on Feb. 26 last year.
Â
This past Sunday against the Volunteers in Knoxville, senior Roi and junior Vedovelli secured the doubles point with a 6-4 victory over Tennessee's Alejandro Moreno and Dragos Cazacu. The pair then helped lead the Bruins to their first road win of the season Tuesday morning in Charleston, South Carolina, at The Citadel. Once again putting Belmont up 1-0, Roi and Vedovelli defeated the Bulldogs' Ted Bagwell and Brady Gober 6-4 as part of a 7-0 Bruin sweep of The Citadel.
Â
With the two wins, Roi and Vedovelli improved to 6-4 this year at the top of the doubles lineup. The doubles team is 13-8 overall in 2025-26, including going 7-4 in tournament play during the fall.
Â
Belmont is back in match action Thursday afternoon, staying in the Palmetto State and taking on Wofford. First serve from the Terriers' Reeves Tennis Center is slated for 1 p.m. CT/2 p.m. ET.
