SILVIS, Ill. – Sophomore
Sloane Biddle captured the MVC Individual Championship as she led the Belmont women's golf team to a third place finish at the MVC Championship held this week at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.
Biddle shot a final round 75 to win the MVC Individual Championship by seven strokes over second place Kayla Sayyaliah of Southern Ilinois (222 to 229). She becomes the first Belmont women's golfer to win a conference championship in the program's history. It was the Old Hickory, Tennessee native's second individual win of the season and her sixth top-five finish of the year.
Sloane also becomes the first Belmont women's golfer to earn a berth into NCAA Regionals, which are set for May 11-13. The selection show is set for April 29 at 4:00pm CT on Golf Channel.
As a team, Belmont shot final round 314 to finish in third place with a 54-hole score of 939. Murray State won the team title with a mark of 923, edging out Bradley by one stroke. (924).
Graduate student
Chloe Tarkany closed out her Belmont career by tying for third place at 230. She carded a 75 on Tuesday. It was her fourth top-five finish of the season and garnered her All-Tournament honors.
Freshman
Lauren Davis wrapped up her first conference championship with a tie for 23
rd place at 239. It was her fifth top-25 showing of the season.
Junior
Paige Hammarstrom finished 40
th at 248, while
Sophie Skoog was 55
th at 168 after subbing into the lineup on Monday.
The championship wraps up the season for the women's golf team. In 10 events, they had one win and five top-five finishers.
