Savannah Webster and Jessica Popiol Named All-MVC First Team

Bruins’ Top Doubles Duo Went 6-1 in the Valley this Spring

ST. LOUIS – Belmont University women's tennis' top doubles team of redshirt freshman Savannah Webster and sophomore Jessica Popiol has been selected to the No. 1 tandem in the Missouri Valley Conference. Webster, a native of El Segundo, California, and Popiol, from Chicago, have been tabbed All-MVC First Team after going 6-1 against the Valley this spring.

The two newcomers own a 9-6 record at the No. 1 doubles spot this season and lead the Bruins with a 14-11 overall doubles record on the year, including fall tournament play.

Webster and Popiol enter the 2026 MVC Championship having won each of their last three doubles matches. The duo dropped just one set, a 6-4 road battle against Bradley's Valeriia Ivanovskaia and Ann Hsieh, in MVC action.

In the fall, Webster and Popiol were doubles finalists at Illinois State's Redbird Invitational where they came within two points of the title in the top draw.

In their first year at Belmont, Webster and Popiol have made an immediate impact and helped the Bruins clinch a spot in this weekend's MVC Championship.

Belmont is the No. 6 seed for the MVC Championship, hosted by the University of Illinois Chicago in the Windy City, and will take on third-seeded Murray State in the first round Friday afternoon. First serve from the Flames Outdoor Tennis Courts in Chicago is slated for 2 p.m.
