The December meeting between Belmont and Vanderbilt will be the17th all-time between the two programs and first since Dec. 21, 2017. In head coach Bart Brooks' first season leading the Bruins, Belmont routed the Commodores 111-74 inside Vanderbilt's Memorial Gymnasium. The 111 points still stand as the most the Bruins have scored in a game in their Division I era. It is also the most points Vanderbilt has ever allowed against a non-conference opponent and is tied for the most allowed against any opponent in the Commodores' history. Belmont knocked down 15 3-pointers in the 37-point blowout, tying for the second-most threes Vanderbilt has given up in a game.

The Commodores hold a 10-6 edge in the series with the Bruins winning three of the first four matchups beginning early in the 1975-76 season. The mid-December game will be the first played at a neutral site in the series.

Vanderbilt has won 74 games over the last three seasons and made three consecutive NCAA Tournaments, including reaching the Sweet 16 this past March as a No. 2 seed. The Commodores feature one of the best players in the nation in rising junior guard Mikayla Blakes, last season's Southeastern Conference Player of the Year. Sixth-year Vanderbilt head coach Shea Ralph was the 2025-26 consensus national coach of the year, and guard Aubrey Galvan was named 2026 SEC Freshman of the Year.

Belmont, the winningest program in the state of Tennessee over the last 10 seasons by winning percentage (.721), will also host eight-time national champion Tennessee at the Curb Event Center during the Bruins' 2026-27 non-conference slate.

Belmont assistant coaches Jessica (Mooney) Holman ('10) and Amy Malo ('09) are both former Commodores and double graduates of Vanderbilt. Holman was tabbed 2008 SEC Co-Sixth Woman of the Year following her sophomore season and the duo helped the Commodores to two SEC Tournament championships and two Sweet 16 appearances.

The Dec. 18 Music City doubleheader at Bridgestone Arena is being put on by Complete Sports Management.
