NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- This spring and summer, a number of Belmont student-athletes spent some time overseas taking part in Belmont's Study Abroad Program.
Throughout the summer, Belmont Athletics will highlight the experiences of our student-athletes as they encounter and engage with new landscapes, cultures, and peoples.
Our first reflection is by
Lucy Kay, a rising junior on the volleyball team. Lucy traveled to Spain and Portugal with Belmont's Study Abroad Program.
What classes did you take?
Worldwide Data analytics and online third year writing
What was your favorite memory of the trip?
Either seeing a live Flamenco show or leaning to make Paella at a cooking class in Madrid.
Is there a specific place that you would go back and visit? If so, where and why?
I would go back to Porto, Portugal! It was beautiful to explore and had a lot of cool cultural foods to try.
What was the thing that surprised you the most about the culture and surroundings?
I was the most surprised by how little things such as how the locals drink coffee changed so much from city to city.
How was the food? What was your favorite meal?
The food was really good! My favorite meal was Paella in Madrid, I had it at least 3 times.
After being overseas for a period of time, what did you miss about home (USA)?
Aside from my family and friends, I missed free ice water the most!
Would you recommend other Belmont students or student-athletes go on this trip?
If you're looking for class credit and wanting to meet other Belmont students through a unique experience, I would recommend it.
