Belmont Athletes and Staff Have A Rewarding Summer Mission Trip to Poland

The group spent a week working with Proem Ministries.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Last month, a group off Belmont student-athletes and staff spent a week in Poland doing mission work with Proem Ministries.

The teams represented on the trip were volleyball, women's golf, softball, and track & field.

The group of eight student-athletes and one staff members worked with Proem at their summer camp in Zakosciele, Poland and at local schools.  Proehm assists children of Ukrainian refugees who are living in Warsaw.  The children are of all ages and most fled Ukraine since the war with Russia began several years ago.

This trip featured all different types of serving including:
  • going into public and catholic schools to teach sports (including baseball)
  • playing in a USA vs. Poland basketball game among the campers
  • putting on picnics for locals with disabilities
  • helping paint and clean out Proem's school
  • help programming at an after school program
In addition to serving in several ways, the group grew closer in their relationship with God and were able to have several spiritual conversations with the Polish people we served. At the end of the week, three of our student-athletes decided to get baptized in the river at camp.

The trip marked the 42nd time that Belmont student-athletes have served on a mission trip through the department's sports ministry program started by Betty Wiseman 31 years ago and the program's fourth trip to Poland.
