KENNESAW, Ga. - Junior Nate Woods had one of the most prolific offensive performances in Belmont history during a doubleheader split with Kennesaw State on Friday evening at Stillwell Stadium. Woods finished with four homeruns, five hits and 10 RBI as Belmont lost game one, 8-7, and won game two, 15-9.

Starting game one with a 0-5 deficit, Belmont took strides to regain the lead as six of its seven unanswered runs came in the fourth and fifth innings. Woods led the charge with two-run homeruns in back-to-back innings, the ladder giving Belmont a 6-5 lead in the fifth. Woods finished 3-for-5 with four runs batted in during the first game.

Freshman lefty Chase Brookshire pitched 7 1/3 innings and allowed five early runs, but held the Owls scoreless for four innings to enable the Bruins to come back and eventually take a 7-5 lead in the seventh.

Kennesaw State answered with two runs in the eighth inning to knot the game at seven, followed by hit a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the ninth from Josh Whitaker.

A string of five singles gave the Bruins the early lead as junior Tim Egerton's base hit drove in the first two runs of the game, followed by another two-run single by senior captain Mark Noth.

The runs continued to pour in for the Bruins as Woods' third homerun of the day was a three-run shot to left field which gave Belmont an 8-0 advantage in the second inning.

Sophomore Frank Adelman made his fifth start of the season on the mound and needed just one more out to receive the win, exiting in the fifth inning with two outs. The Owls came back to within three runs at 5-8 on two runs in the fifth.

Belmont reached 15 runs for the third time this season with seven runs in the sixth innings. Breen led off the inning with his first triple as the Bruins hit for the cycle with two homeruns, two doubles, and three singles to take a 15-5 lead. Woods and Egerton accounted for the two homeruns.
