UNCASVILLE, Conn. - - Belmont University men's basketball faces Holy Cross Saturday night in the Springfield Bracket of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament.
The Bruins defeated Lipscomb, 94-64, Nov. 20. Freshman Evan Bradds (Jamestown, Ohio) led five Bruins in double figures with a career-high 19 points.
Belmont received 18 votes in the Associated Press poll and five votes in the USA Today Coaches' Poll released Nov. 18. Belmont has received national poll Top 25 votes a total of 21 weeks over the last four seasons.
Belmont and Holy Cross are two of only three men's basketball programs in the nation to earn academic distinction in the NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) report all eight years of existence (2006-13). Belmont has scored a perfect 1000 six of eight years, and head coach Rick Byrd is among the NCAA leaders in head coach APR score.
This marks the first meeting between Belmont and Holy Cross.
