Men's Basketball Faces Indiana State Saturday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's basketball returns to game action following the Christmas holiday Saturday at Indiana State.

The Bruins dropped a 93-80 decision at [19/21] Kentucky Dec. 21. Sophomore Craig Bradshaw (Ridgetop, Tenn.) led three Bruins in double figures with 22 points. Belmont led the entire first half and into the second half.

Belmont has two current players from the state of Indiana: Spencer Turner (Bloomington) and Jeff Laidig (Mishawaka). The Bruins also have a commitment from high school senior forward Mack Mercer (Plymouth) for next year. Several other notable recent Belmont graduates from Indiana include: Jordan Campbell (Indianapolis), Adam Mark (Bremen), Steve Drabyn (LaPorte), and Nick Otis (LaPorte).

Turner is the son of former Indiana State player Scott Turner, who played on the 1979 Indiana State team featuring Larry Bird that reached the National Championship game.

Belmont is 3-5 lifetime against current members of the Missouri Valley Conference, but 3-2 in the NCAA Division I era. (1-0 Evansville, 1-3 Indiana State, 1-1 Loyola, 0-1 Southern Illinois.

This marks the second meeting between Belmont and Indiana State. The Bruins and Sycamores put on a highly entertaining game Nov. 14 in Nashville, with Belmont rallying for a 96-95 victory.

Belmont's 16-point halftime deficit was the largest halftime deficit overcome in victory in Curb Event Center history. The Bruins' 63 point second half was one off the Curb Event Center single-half record (64, vs. Campbell 1/2/06).

Tip-off is set for 1:05 p.m. ET/12:05 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast live on MyTV30 in Nashville and ESPN3 out of market.
