RICHMOND, Ky. - - Belmont University men's basketball returns to game action at Eastern Kentucky Thursday.
The Bruins shot 58 percent from the field in defeating UT Martin, 87-72, Jan. 11. Sophomore Craig Bradshaw (Ridgetop, Tenn.) led four Bruins in double figures with 22 points.
The Bruins (24) and Colonels (69) each set new program standards for best season-ending RPI in 2012-13.
Belmont and Eastern Kentucky each made the 2007 NCAA Tournament, playing respective first round games at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem, N.C. Belmont faced East No. 2 seed Georgetown, while Eastern Kentucky faced East No. 1 seed North Carolina.
The Bruins and Colonels had two common opponents in the non-conference: VCU and Brescia.
Eastern Kentucky baseball head coach Jason Stein spent seven seasons (2001-07) as an assistant coach at Belmont.
This marks the fifth meeting between Belmont and Eastern Kentucky. The Bruins hold a 3-1 series lead, which includes two victories last season in their first OVC campaign.
Belmont set a program NCAA era single-game record by shooting .674 (31-for-46) from the field in last season's victory at Eastern Kentucky.
