CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - - Belmont University men's basketball returns to league play Thursday at Southeast Missouri.
The Bruins defeated Tennessee Tech, 64-62, Jan. 4. Belmont forced 19 Golden Eagle turnovers as sophomore Craig Bradshaw (Ridgetop, Tenn.) led three Bruins in double figures with 17 points.
The Memphis area has been important to Belmont and Southeast Missouri. 2013 OVC co-Player of the Year and current Utah Jazz guard Ian Clark hails from Memphis, while Southeast Missouri has five roster members from the Bluff City (Tyler Stone, Jarekious Bradley, Nino Johnson, Darrian Gray, and Antonius Cleveland).
2013 OVC Tournament MVP Kerron Johnson and Southeast Missouri guard Josh Langford both hail from Huntsville, Ala.
Belmont University Director of Athletics Mike Strickland hired Southeast Missouri head coach Dickey Nutt's brother, Houston, as head football coach at Murray State in 1993.
This marks the second meeting between Belmont and Southeast Missouri. The Bruins defeated the Redhawks in Nashville, Jan. 10, 2013.
