Men's Basketball Hosts Tennessee State Thursday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's basketball returns to game action Thursday versus Tennessee State.

The Bruins defeated Austin Peay, 93-68, Feb. 8. Senior J.J. Mann (Smyrna, Ga.) scored a game-high 28 points en route to OVC Player of the Week honors.

Belmont and Tennessee State had five All-OVC selections last season (Bruins: Ian Clark, Kerron Johnson; Tigers: Patrick Miller, Robert Covington, Kellen Thornton).

Thursday's game features six players from the Nashville area (Belmont: Bradshaw, Chamberlain, Chowbay, Mobley; Tennessee State: Graham, Queary).

Former Bruin point guard and current Columbia State head coach Brian Collins ('06) served as a graduate assistant and director of basketball operations at Tennessee State from 2007-09.

This marks the 22nd meeting between Belmont and Tennessee State. The Bruins hold a 9-1 series lead in the NCAA era, which includes a 79-65 victory at the Tigers earlier this season.

Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. CT from the Curb Event Center. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU and the WatchESPN app.

The live play-by-play of Voice of the Bruins Kevin Ingram can be heard on the Bruin Sports Network and 104.5 The Zone. In-game updates will be available on Twitter @BelmontMBB.
