Baseball Returns Home to Host No.3 Vanderbilt

Game Notes

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Belmont returns home after traveling to Oklahoma for the first time in program history last week. The Bruins defeated Memphis 12-5 last Tuesday before falling in all three to the Sooners. 

Drew Ferguson (Knoxville, Tenn.) leads Belmont, hitting .373, with 25 hits including seven doubles and six home runs. The junior outfielder also leads the Bruins with 15 RBI. Jamie Ritchie (Buford, Ga.) has 20 hits on the season with four doubles and two home runs, and is second in RBI with 13. 

James Buckelew (Lawrenceville, Ga.) gets the start on the mound Tuesday. The senior posts a 2.10 ERA through 25.2 innings of work and has struck out 20.

Vanderbilt enters the midweek contest ranked No.3 in the national polls. The Commodores took two of three from LSU over the weekend and are led by Bryan Renolds, who has 19 RBI and 10 doubles on the season.  Walker Buehler will take the mound with a 3-1 record and a 2.16 ERA. Through 25 innings of work, the right-hander has struck out 22 and walked nine.

Tomorrow's first pitch is scheduled for 4:00pm. The game will be available on the OVC Digital Network and the Bruins Sports Network. 

Notes:

  • Vanderbilt holds the all-time series record at 54-15. The teams played a home-and-home last year with the Commodores winning both.
  • Belmont will travel to Vanderbilt's Hawkins Field on March 25.
