NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men's tennis team fell to rival Lipscomb 4-3 in a non-conference match that went down to the wire Saturday night indoors at Richland Country Club in Nashville.
The Bruins posted the first point of the match as they swept the top two positions in doubles. At one, Cedric Dujacquier and Robin Demasse beat Philippe Courteau and Rob Mitchell 6-1. Then at number two, Stephen Goldman and Zak Khan outlasted Alejandro Manzanares and Daniel Cardenas 6-4. The match at number three was unfinished since that doubles point had been determined.
In singles, the Bisons stormed back and took a 3-1 lead as they earned wins at positions one, two, and four. Belmont tied the match at 3-3 when Adam Rudowski won at number three over Courteau in three sets and Stephen Goldman beat Thasi Minet at number five. However, Lipscomb pulled out the win at the sixth position and clinched the 4-3 victory.
Belmont (4-2) is off for two weeks before hitting the court on Friday, February 26 as they play at Vanderbilt.
