Box Score

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Behind a season-high five homeruns, the Belmont University baseball team (12-8) knocked off neighboring Lipscomb, 23-5 Tuesday evening at E.S. Rose Park.

With the trademark Rose Park winds howling in full force, Belmont played longball in order to dispatch the Bisons in the Battle of the Boulevard. Brennan Washington (Murfreesboro, Tenn.), Clay Payne (Powell, Tenn.), Rafael Bournigal (Mulberry, Fla.), Nick Egli (Brentwood, Tenn.) and Tyler Walsh (Evansville, Tenn.) all hit homeruns in the lopsided win.

Belmont has now won six-straight games at home against Lipscomb, and its 23 runs are the most its scored ever in a matchup with Lipscomb.

Belmont's 23 runs are its most in a game since the historical 34-10 drubbing of UT Martin last season. The Bruins have now won three-straight.

The Bruins scored five or more runs in three separate innings including a seven run third inning. Belmont has scored at least six runs in an inning six times already this season.

Payne led the way with a team-high five runs batted in and he has now has a team-high 27 RBIs. Washington drove in four and Bournigal and Walsh both pushed three runs across.

Freshman Austin Krzeminski (Roswell, Ga.) started the game in what a staff day and group effort from the BU pitching staff. Krzeminski threw three innings and earned his second win of the season.

Brandon Liskey (Harrisonburg, Va.), Kyle Klotz (Fairview, Tenn.), Connor Etheridge (Springfield, Ill.), Dom Veltri (Clarksville, Tenn.), Josh Tubbs (Camden, Tenn.) and Washington all appeared for one inning of relief each. Etheridge, Veltri and Tubbs all tossed scoreless frames.

Etheridge and Veltri both struck out the side in their respective innings of duty.

Lipscomb led 1-0 after the first two and a half innings were in the books, the Bruins got things going though as they put up seven runs in the bottom of the inning. Belmont walked five times and registered five hits in this inning alone as it saw Lipscomb use three pitchers during this span.

It was more of the same offensively for the Bruins in their next turn at bat as they put up a five spot in the fourth inning. Belmont would go on to score in the next three innings including an additional five run tally in the seventh.

16 total pitchers toed the slab in the game.

Hunter Holland (Soddy Daisy, Tenn.) produced out of the nine spot for Belmont with a game-high three hits and two RBIs.

In the last three matchups in the series played in Rose Park, Belmont now holds a 53-11 edge.

The Bruins held the Bisons to just seven hits.
