Belmont-Tennessee State Game Preview

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's basketball returns to game action Saturday vs. Tennessee State.

Belmont dropped a 78-67 decision at Jacksonville State Feb. 22, snapping a stretch of 17 victories over 19 games for the Bruins.

Junior Dylan Windler (Indianapolis, Ind.) led the Bruins with 22 points and nine rebounds. The 6-7 guard/forward ranks among OVC leaders in eight statistical categories, including fourth in scoring (17.5) and first in rebounding (9.2).

Senior Austin Luke (Rowlett, Texas) had 15 points, 10 assists and zero turnovers at Jacksonville State. The 6-3 guard ranks seventh among all active NCAA Division I players and third all-time in OVC history in assists (654).

Senior Amanze Egekeze (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) continues his fine career, with 62 career double figure scoring games. Like Windler, Egekeze ranks among OVC leaders in eight statistical categories, including fifth in scoring (16.7) and third in 3-point field goals made (82). He is one of only five active forwards in college basketball with 200 or more career 3-point field goals.

Former All-OVC players Ian Clark of Belmont and Robert Covington of Tennessee State are enjoying solid young careers in the NBA; Clark for the New Orleans Pelicans and Covington for the Philadelphia 76ers.

This will mark the final game at the Curb Event Center for four Belmont seniors: Luke, Egekeze, Tyler Hadden (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Burton Sampson (Knoxville, Tenn.).

Evan Bradds ('17) scored 22 points on 10-for-10 shooting and 2-for-2 free throw shooting vs. Tennessee State (2/25/17) in his final game at the Curb Event Center.

This marks the 30th meeting between Belmont and Tennessee State.

Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. CT from the Curb Event Center. The game will be broadcast on WUXP-TV MyTV30 and OVC Digital Network. In-game updates will be available via Twitter @BelmontMBB.
