NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's basketball returns to game action Monday vs. High Point in the 2019 Gotham Classic.
Belmont defeated Boston College, 100-85, Saturday. Sophomore Adam Kunkel (Hebron, Ky.) scored a career-high 35 points for the Bruins. It marked Belmont's latest victory over major conference opposition; Belmont has defeated North Carolina, UCLA, Vanderbilt, Stanford, Marquette, Temple, Georgia, Cincinnati, Alabama, Missouri and Boston College in recent years.
Sophomore Grayson Murphy (Franklin, Tenn.) continues his outstanding all-court game, recording nine points, eight rebounds, six assists and two steals at Boston College. The 6-2 guard has 10 steals through three games this season.
Sophomore Nick Muszynski (Pickerington, Ohio) registered his 28th career double figure scoring game with 13 points at Boston College. The 6-11 center was named to the Lou Henson Award Watch List.
Belmont head coach Casey Alexander and High Point head coach Tubby Smith are two of 38 head coaches in NCAA Division I men's basketball leading their alma mater.
Belmont and current Big South Conference members Campbell, Gardner-Webb and USC Upstate previously faced one another in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Belmont women's soccer head coach Heather Henson served as head coach at High Point from 1995-99. Henson led Belmont to the 2019 OVC Championship and NCAA Tournament vs. North Carolina.
Belmont women's basketball graduate assistant Kaylah Keys played women's basketball at High Point from 2014-17. Keys scored 1,869 career points and was a three-time All-Big South honoree.
This marks the second meeting between Belmont and High Point. The Bruins defeated the Panthers, 100-66, Jan. 3, 1991 in Nassau, Bahamas.

Belmont University men's basketball has earned postseason invitations 13 of the last 14 seasons, including eight berths to the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins have won 17 conference championships since 2006 - third-most nationally over that span (Gonzaga, Kansas).
