Western Kentucky Preview

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Belmont baseball team goes back on the road for four consecutive games, starting with a non-conference road game against Western Kentucky.

Belmont is coming off eight wins in its last nine games, with four of those wins coming by way of walk-off.

"There's a lot of character on this roster," head coach Dave Jarvis said. "They're not going to quit. They're not going to give up. To their credit, I've seen these guys make some really good adjustments throughout the course of these games and I think that's a big factor in this as well. There's some magic to it as well. It's a lot of fun."

Western Kentucky has won its last five games against the Bruins, leading the overall series 30-25. The Bruins are looking for its first win over the Hilltoppers since Feb. 22, 2017, eyeing its first win in Bowling Green, Ky. since Feb. 27, 2013.

Belmont, however, believes that this year's team is different.

"Everyone believes in everybody," sophomore Carson Shacklett said. "We trust one another. We have great team chemistry. We just want to win for each other. That's the main goal. To win and to do it the right way."

Belmont has proven that they are never out of a game when they are trailing this season. In addition to having four walk-off wins, Belmont has outscored its opponents 30-7 when the game has reached the seventh inning or later.

They have also driven in 18 runs when they are down to their last out in an inning.

"I have so much confidence in this team," junior Kyle Brennan said. "All the hitters find a way to get the job done."
