NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Belmont baseball head coach Dave Jarvis announced the addition of Kevin Okins to the Bruins on Friday.
"We are very excited about Kevin being a part of our program next fall," Jarvis said. "He brings a high level of character and work ethic that will serve him well at Belmont."
Okins comes to Belmont after completing his high school career at First Assembly Christian School in Cordova, Tenn., playing for coach Jonathan Moody. Okins was selected as a 2020 Rawlings/Perfect Game Preseason All-American and was listed in Perfect Game's top 500 rankings in the nation.
The Collierville, Tenn., native led his team in batting average with a .442 mark as a sophomore and a .370 batting average as a junior, accumulating a career batting average of .405. On the varsity baseball team, Okins collected 64 career hits and drove in 44 RBIs in addition to hitting five home runs.
Okins earned All-District and All-Region honors in addition to having a fielding percentage of .989. He was also named to the 2019 17U WWBA All-Tournament Team, hitting .667.
Off the field, Okins was a member of the National Honors Society, National Tech Honors Society, Rho Kappa National Honors Society, Mu Alpha Theta National Honors Society, and National Science Honors Society. He was also a member of the Student Government Association in his junior and senior years of high school.
