Seizing The Opportunity

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. - With his senior season being cut short due to COVID-19, former Belmont baseball pitcher Brandon Liskey decided to jump-start the next chapter of his life.

After years of perfecting his craft in photography, videography and content creation, Liskey has hit the ground running in his professional career.

Liskey recently accepted a full-time position Elevated Coastal Productions earlier this month, working as a photographer, videographer, and aerial specialist.

"Coming into college, I always thought I was going to play baseball at the next level," Liskey told BelmontBruins.com. "I didn't achieve my goals in baseball, but that doesn't mean I can't achieve my goals in something else. I was talking with (head) coach (Dave) Jarvis about this. The biggest thing for me is I want to be comfortable in my own situation. If it's not going to be baseball, then I have to find something else for me to do. Lord willing, I found this and I really like it."

The Harrisonburg, Va., native's interest in multimedia started two years ago when he wanted to capture moments from his hunting trips. After buying a camera, Liskey started putting his craft into practice by taking portraits, taking up part time jobs in addition to filming his hunting trips during the baseball's offseason.

Liskey started as an Environmental Science major and following his interest in multimedia, he decided to take photography classes at Belmont during the last academic year. Those classes and the guidance from his Belmont mentors allowed Liskey to confirm his passion.

"You got to get to a place where you're really comfortable in a setting, being comfortable and content, but still willing to work," Liskey said. "I think Coach Jarvis taught me that. I think Belmont has taught me that. I've definitely changed over the past five years. You can ask anybody on the team. I was not like I am now five years ago when I came in. I think I've grown as a person. That's the biggest thing Belmont taught me."

When his family moved to Savannah, Ga., Liskey started looking for people in need of a photographer in that area. Liskey had reached out to ECP, but the company said they had all the hands on deck they needed. ECP later needed a real estate photographer and Liskey decided to reach out again for the position, with the company eventually hiring Liskey for part-time work.

A year and a half later, Liskey was hired on a full-time basis and has now been working in his new role for a week. Liskey said that one of the main factors of his boss promoting him was his persistence to not take no for an answer.

"I don't want to be on the side of annoying somebody, but being persistent is the way to get somebody's attention and show that you care and want to work," Liskey said. "It's just the persistence of showing somebody that you care and want to do the job...It was like that I found it and it was the persistence to where it got me to where I am."

Liskey's current supervisor at ECP taught him a plethora of information about real estate when he first started with the company, using that information to be creative with his assigned projects. In his role, clients tell Liskey what they want to see and he uses his skills with multimedia platforms to exceed their expectations.

It's not just excelling with content creation that gives Liskey his motivation in his new job. It's seeing the smile on his clients' and customers' faces when the final product is presented.

"I always take my inspiration as satisfaction to the customer over anything else," Liskey said. "I'm willing to work because it's not all about the money. I'd rather be happy doing what I'm doing and see satisfaction from my realtors or my clients. That makes me happy when people think my work looks good. I have that kind of personality where I really like to see other people satisfied with the work that I do. That makes me love what I do."
