NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont Women's Track and Field team will finally get back to business after a long hiatus, competing at the Rhodes Invitational, hosted by Rhodes College, on Friday.
The Rhodes Invitational will have a variety of events over two days, but the Bruins will only be competing in the 5K, and be sending an abbreviated version of the women's squad.
"We have a smaller group traveling to Memphis this week, but they will have a lot to show," said Belmont's assistant coach Kate Bucknam.
Seniors Halle Hausman (Grey, Tenn.), Anna Arrick (St. Charles, Ill.), and Claire Cheeseman (Bradford, Conn.) will represent BU at the first meet of the season.
"This will be Claire's first race back in uniform since her 5K race at indoor conference last year," said Bucknam. "I'm really excited to see how she does since she wasn't able to race cross country and has been raring to go. She's been looking great in workouts and I know is ready to start her senior season off on a good note."
Bucknam also is optimistic for the other two seniors making the trip. "Halle and Anna are coming off great conference championship performances earlier this month on the cross country course. This will be their first time racing a 5K on the track since they are more middle distance runners, but it will be a great opportunity to show how much strength they have at this distance in a little bit more of a controlled environment."
Live results will be available for the Rhodes Invitational.
